IPAL announces that tryouts for The Lion in Winter by James Goldman will be held at IPAL's Essanee Theater at 6PM on Sunday July 18th and Tuesday July 20th 2010. The play is IPAL’s fall production and will open on Friday, October 15, 2010 and will run for three weekend, closing with the Sunday Matinee on October 31st.
The play is a comedic drama with adult themes, and requires a dedicated and serious cast. It is a “period piece” set in the year 1183, so there will be care in selecting costumes.
The cast consists of 5 men and 2 women, briefly described as follows:
Henry II, King of England – age 50 plus
Eleanor of Aquitaine, Henry’s wife – age 60 plus
Richard Lionheart, their oldest son – age 26
Geoffrey, their middle son – age 24
John, their youngest son – age 16
Alais Capet, a French Princess – age 23
Philip Capet, King of France – age 17
The ages shown are those set forth in the script and are not set in stone. This is an ensemble cast and members will be selected with regard to their relation to each other.
As in all IPAL production, these auditions are completely open and do not require any special preparation. Questions can be directed to the director (Mac Stearns) by calling the theater at (337) 364-6114 and leaving word.
