Starting September 9th, Ray Blum will be teaching a weekly playwriting course for high school age and adult writers. Classes will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette. The course objective will be for each participant to write a series of plays of different genres (comedy, children's play, ethnic, drama, musical, etc). All of the completed plays will be performed at one of the area theatres. The playwrights will then be encouraged (and aided) to publish their material. The cost of the course will be $60.00 per month, based upon the average of 4 sessions each month. The fee includes instruction as well as the numerous handouts. The class will also attend local productions, especially shows that were written by local playwrights, in order to "pick their brains."
