Theatre--Performance

The Evangeline Players announce their fall show, Neil Simon’s Oscar and Felix: A New Look at the Odd Couple. The play opens at the DuChamp Opera House in St. Martinville on Friday, August 8, and runs through Sunday, August 24. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 PM and the Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $10 per person and can be ordered by calling the DuChamp Opera House at 394-6604.

Neil Simon wrote the classic comedy, The Odd Couple, in 1963 but updated the play in 2002. The recently divorced Oscar Madison is hosting a group of guys for poker, and if the mess of his apartment is any indication, it’s little wonder that his wife left him. The only person not there is Felix Unger, the perpetual hypochondriac with marital problems of his own, sinus and psychological troubles and so much more. Oscar and Felix settle upon a temporary solution: living together as roommates. The resulting antics of the extremely neat Felix and the overt slob Oscar are typical Neil Simon, a blend of humor and pathos.

The cast includes Steven “Smitty” Smith, Jr. (Oscar), Vincent P. Barras (Felix), Mac Stearns (Speed), Jay Florsheim (Murray), Walter Brown (Vinnie), Milton Resweber (Roy), Kayla Heintz (Hoolya), and Erin Segura (Inez).
